During the first week of May, Melbourne will embrace the spirit of jazz as the 2010 Melbourne International Jazz Festival spoils music lovers with a diverse range of exciting concert experiences.

Featuring some of the world's leading modern masters of jazz, a rich multi-layered program of music events will be presented in iconic Melbourne spaces, also incorporating film, public art installations and forums.

The Festival will be a stunning celebration of the breadth and exploratory possibilities of jazz music.

The Modern Masters program includes a huge line-up of jazz legends of the world stage:

American icons saxophonist Charles Lloyd and pianist Ahmad Jamal;
the father of Ethio-jazz Mulatu Astatke;
gifted Israeli bass player Avishai Cohen, guitarist John Abercrombie and nu jazz artists Tortoise and Brian Chase of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.

The acclaimed Australian Art Orchestra will also present a stunning tribute to Miles Davis. There are also many free events on offer.
